Scripture- Acts 1:9
When he had said this, as they were watching, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight.
Prayer Focus: The ascension of Jesus into heaven, as described in the verse above, is both an ending and beginning. It marks the end of Christ’s life and ministry here on earth, but the beginning of the work the Holy Spirit will do in and through the body of Christ, the church. There are countless beginnings and endings that mark our lives: graduations and first days of school, weddings and funerals, retirements and new jobs. Each of these transitions marks the end of life as we’ve known it, but the beginning of the new work that God will do in our lives and in the world. Today, I invite you to prayerfully reflect on one of those transition moments you have experienced. Where did you see God at work, calling you into something new? Let us give thanks that we worship a God of resurrection, who brings new life to every beginning and ending.
