Scripture – Ephesians 1:3-4

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places,

4 just as he chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world to be holy and blameless before him in love. 

Prayer Focus: After his traditional greeting, the apostle Paul generally has a section of thanksgiving for the church to which he is writing. Here in Ephesians, Paul’s thanksgiving is more cosmic in focus. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ for blessing us and choosing us in Christ. The sermon on Sunday will explore what it means to be “chosen in Christ” through the doctrine of predestination or election. But today note that the reason we have been chosen is so that we might be holy and blameless before God in love. Pray that you might commit to a life of love today in response to the blessing you have received from God in Christ.
