2 The more I called them,
    the more they went from me;
they kept sacrificing to the Baals
    and offering incense to idols.

Prayer Focus: Have you ever known a toddler who decided it would be a great idea to run away from you in the midst of a busy place. The more you called, the more they ran the opposite direction (often laughing as they had no concept of the potential danger). This is Hosea’s metaphor for how Israel continued to run away from the Lord, despite God’s great love for them. Seems like a pretty accurate description for our lives as well. Pray that you might have ears to hear God’s call and the will to stop running away.
