Tuesday, December 7: Scripture – Luke 2:3-5
3 All went to their own towns to be registered.
4 Joseph also went from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to the city of David called Bethlehem, because he was descended from the house and family of David.
5 He went to be registered with Mary, to whom he was engaged and who was expecting a child.
Prayer Focus: Not only do we hear of the geopolitical forces at work in this story, now we begin to understand the family dynamics as well. Joseph was descended from the house and family of David – so there is a royal lineage in there somewhere. He is engaged to Mary and she is expecting a child. That is an unusual sequence for those two events. So into this royal line, a child will be born under unusual circumstances. Pray that you might have eyes to see and ears to hear the unusual ways that God is showing up in the world today.
