Monday, December 6: Scripture – Luke 2:1-2
1 In those days a decree went out from Emperor Augustus that all the world should be registered.
2 This was the first registration and was taken while Quirinius was governor of Syria.
Prayer Focus: This coming Sunday we will worship at both services as our music ministry presents “Holy Light: A Candlelight Service of Carols.” With a variety of readings, scripture, and music, we will together bear witness to the Light that still shines. As we anticipate this service, I thought this week we would listen again to the story of Jesus’ birth as it is recorded for us in the Gospel of Luke. It begins with a decree from the Emperor and reminds us that the birth of Jesus took place in a particular place and time in history. God truly enters into human history. God enters into your history today. Pray that you might have eyes to see and ears to hear.
