Scripture – Luke 17:14

When he saw them, he said to them, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went, they were made clean.

Prayer Focus: Unlike many other healing stories narrated in the Gospels, Jesus does not touch or speak to the men in order to bring about their healing. Instead, he simply tells them to go find the priests and Luke informs us that they’re made clean at some point during that journey. I am struck by the way the men respond so willingly to Jesus’ instructions. They don’t question him, and they don’t appear to doubt that this healing will actually take place. They simply follow his instructions and run off to find the priests. It is in that act of following that they are made clean. Today, pray that God might help us live with this kind of trust. May we hear the ways that Christ calls us into the world and may we go willingly, trusting in the assurance of Christ’s promises.
