Scripture – Luke 17:15-16a

Then one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, praising God with a loud voice. He prostrated himself at Jesus’s feet and thanked him.

Prayer Focus: Of the ten men who have been healed, one peels away from the group and turns back to find Jesus. Not only does he praise God and thank Jesus, but this man falls face flat on the ground at Jesus’ feet, assuming the ultimate posture of humility and gratitude. Think back to a time in your life when you felt this kind of gratitude to God. What did you do? How did you respond? It is easy for us to move through these moments of life quickly, so distracted by our excitement that we run forward like the other nine men. We forget to pause, turn around, and offer gratitude to God, who is the source of all that is good in our lives. Today, pray that we all may find moments to pause and offer our gratitude to God. May we assume the ultimate posture of humility, falling face down on the ground to wholeheartedly declare our total reliance on God for all that we have and all that we are.
