Scripture – Luke 21:9-11
9 “When you hear of wars and insurrections, do not be terrified, for these things must take place first, but the end will not follow immediately.”
10 Then he said to them, “Nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom;
11 there will be great earthquakes and in various places famines and plagues, and there will be dreadful portents and great signs from heaven.
Prayer Focus: This time of waiting will not only be marked by false messiahs, but it will also be marked by war, violence, threat, political turmoil, and natural disasters. This does not sound fun at all! Perhaps the greatest challenge to Christian faith in a world of instant gratification is to wait for the Lord. Especially waiting when things are hard, unpleasant, or threatening. Pray that you might not be terrified. Pray that you will trust in the word of the Lord and God’s promise to us.
