Scripture – Luke 21:12-15

12 “But before all this occurs, they will arrest you and persecute you; they will hand you over to synagogues and prisons, and you will be brought before kings and governors because of my name.

13 This will give you an opportunity to testify.

14 So make up your minds not to prepare your defense in advance,

15 for I will give you words and a wisdom that none of your opponents will be able to withstand or contradict.

Prayer Focus: Before all things are set right, there will be those who attempt to silence God’s people. Jesus never promises his followers a bed of roses. In fact, he reminds them they might have to take up their own cross and follow him. But notice Jesus does not indicate being arrested and persecuted is something to be feared. No, it is an opportunity to testify. And it’s not necessary to prepare a speech ahead of time. Jesus promises to give us words and wisdom to point to the good news of the gospel. Trust that God will give you words and wisdom today. Who might you share that good news with?
