Scripture – 1 Corinthians 1:17-18

17 For Christ did not send me to baptize but to proclaim the gospel—and not with eloquent wisdom, so that the cross of Christ might not be emptied of its power.

18 For the message about the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

Prayer Focus: Paul’s particular call is not to accumulate a long list of baptisms. Christ sent Paul to proclaim the gospel. And not a gospel that would convince through eloquent wisdom or flowery speech, but a gospel about the truth and power of Christ’s cross. The message about the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing but to us who are being saved, it is the power of God. Pray that you might know the power of God that brings you to wholeness and new life today.
