Scripture – Micah 6:6-7

6 “With what shall I come before the Lord and bow myself before God on high?  Shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves a year old? 

7 Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousands of rivers of oil?  Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?”

Prayer Focus: The people, getting it wrong just as they usually do, offer rituals of worship and sacrifice to God as they begin to defend themselves.  They think that their call to faith is just about religious practice in worship and nothing else.  If they worship the “right” way on the Sabbath, then they don’t have to worry about the rest of the week.  They are missing the point again.  Pray this week that our call to faith as a community might inform how we interact with everyone we meet instead of just being what we practice on Sunday mornings.
