Scripture – Matthew 3:16

16 And when Jesus had been baptized, just as he came up from the water, suddenly the heavens were opened to him and he saw God’s Spirit descending like a dove and alighting on him. 

Prayer Focus: As Jesus came up from the water, the heavens were opened to him and he saw God’s Spirit descending like a dove. In this moment, the barrier between heaven and earth breaks open and Jesus sees God’s Spirit descending to alight on him. When a child, youth, or adult is baptized at Unity, we symbolize the gift of the Holy Spirit with a prayer and making a small cross on their forehead with oil. May we too continue to daily increase in the Holy Spirit more and more until they come to God’s everlasting kingdom. May that be our prayer today.
