Scripture – Matthew 3:13-15

13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan, to be baptized by him.

14 John would have prevented him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?”

15 But Jesus answered him, “Let it be so now, for it is proper for us in this way to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he consented.   

Prayer Focus: On Sunday we will celebrate Child of the Covenant Sunday at Unity. As part of this celebration we remember and celebrate with all those who were baptized in 2025. Our second text for this week from the Gospel of Matthew is the account of Jesus’ baptism. Jesus comes to the Jordan to be baptized by John, but John is reluctant. Jesus speaks his first words in Matthew’s Gospel: “Let it be so for now, for it is proper for us in this way to fulfill all righteousness.” How are we fulfilling all righteousness this week? How does our faith lead to righteous actions? Lift this up in your prayers today.
