Scripture – 1 Corinthians 1:4-5

4 I give thanks to my God always for you because of the grace of God that has been given you in Christ Jesus,

5 for in every way you have been enriched in him, in speech and knowledge of every kind

Prayer Focus: Last week we looked at the opening thanksgiving from Paul’s letter to the Ephesians which was cosmic in scale. This week, in the opening thanksgiving to 1 Corinthians, we will see Paul focuses on a particular issue which is plaguing the Corinthian church: divisions. He begins with thanks for the grace of God in Christ Jesus that has “enriched” them. What does it mean to you to be “enriched” by God’s grace? I suspect it has little to do with economic wealth. How might you see grace filling your mind, your speech, and your heart to overflowing? Pray that you might recognize and share the grace you’ve received from the Lord today.
