Saturday, January 16: Scripture – 1 Samuel 3:9
9 Therefore Eli said to Samuel, “Go, lie down; and if he calls you, you shall say, ‘Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.’” So Samuel went and lay down in his place.
Prayer Focus: Eli tells Samuel to return to his place, to lie down and if the Lord calls again to respond, “Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.” With this new instruction from Eli, Samuel’s mind must have been swimming – with both anticipation and terror. And yet, he went and lay down in his place. He waited for the Lord to speak to him again. Pray that you might wait, even in the midst of anticipation and terror, for the Lord to speak to you. Pray for the gift of patience and endurance as you wait.
