6 Love rejoices in the truth,
but not in evil.
Prayer Focus: There are so many different opinions these days about what is truth and how we discern it. Might love be a lens through which we can discern the truth about others? When telling stories about what love looks like, one child told a story of getting to know someone rather than judging them on their outward appearance only. Don’t we all tell ourselves stories about who people are and how we expect them to behave before we really listen to their stories and get to know them? A loving way to interact with others who are different from us is to reach out, be curious, and hear a little of their story. Then, we can know the truth of their situation and the choices they make. We may not always agree about everything, but hearing why they believe what they believe or make the choices they make allows us to rejoice in the truth rather than in evil. Pray this week that you might love others by stopping and allowing yourself to listen and be curious rather than making snap judgements.
