4 Love is patient and kind,
never jealous, boastful
proud 5 or rude.
Prayer Focus: In addition to the 1 John passage, I chose a portion of 1 Corinthians 13 for our Children’s Sabbath service this week. As I have been listening to participants in Monday Musings each week who have been discussing Matt and Molly’s sermons on our new Annual Vision, “We Love”, the comment I keep hearing is, “Yes, I believe that we are called to love others as God loves us, but what does that look like in the day to day? How do I enact it?” The 1 John passage reminds us that love is an action, a verb. It is something we do. But in this portion of the 1 Corinthians passage, love is described with a series of adjectives. Some are what love is or looks like and some are what love is not. In this verse, we hear that you love others when you are patient and treat others with kindness. If love is not jealous, boastful or rude, what is it? One child said we should follow the 10th commandment which he reminded me says you shall not covet anything your neighbor has. Pray that you can show love this week by being patient, kind and grateful for what you have, without bragging about it.
