27 The days are surely coming, says the Lord, when I will sow the house of Israel and the house of Judah with the seed of humans and the seed of animals. 28 And just as I have watched over them to pluck up and break down, to overthrow, destroy, and bring evil, so I will watch over them to build and to plant, says the Lord.

Prayer Focus: A few weeks ago, we read about the prophet Jeremiah buying a field and I invited us to lift our eyes from the immediate now and consider how what we do in this moment joins God’s work in the grand scope of history. The rest of this week we return to Jeremiah with another text of hope. Jeremiah has shared many words about destruction (i.e. plucking up, breaking down, overthrow, and evil), but now he announces that the Lord is planting seeds to build and to plant. Where do you see small signs of hope and new life breaking forth? Pray that you might have eyes to see and hands to help nurture these signs of hope today.
