29 In those days they shall no longer say:
“The parents have eaten sour grapes,
and the children’s teeth are set on edge.”
30 But all shall die for their own sins; the teeth of the one who eats sour grapes shall be set on edge.
Prayer Focus: In these verses, Jeremiah quotes a proverb about how generations suffer due to the actions of their ancestors. Our actions have lasting impact. And yet, Jeremiah is proclaiming that in the new day God brings, everyone will bear responsibility for their own actions. Are there ways in which you are avoiding responsibility for your sin today? Are you putting off something that you need to address today? Pray for the faith and courage to confess and begin anew today.
