Wednesday, August 9 – Scripture: 1 Kings 19:11
11 He said, “Go out and stand on the mountain before the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.” Now there was a great wind, so strong that it was splitting mountains and breaking rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind, and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake,
Prayer Focus: We expect an all-powerful God to show up in the dramatic places…in the wind, in the earthquake, in the fire, but we forget that the God we worship is a God who surprises us. God likes to subvert our expectations, to catch us off guard so we will pay attention. And God also knows us so well, that God shows up in a way that will be the most effective for our needs. Pray today that you might recognize when God shows up in your life.
