Scripture – Luke 14:18-20

18 But they all alike began to make excuses. The first said to him, ‘I have bought a piece of land, and I must go out and see it; please accept my regrets.’ 19 Another said, ‘I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I am going to try them out; please accept my regrets.’ 20 Another said, ‘I have just been married, and therefore I cannot come.’  

Prayer Focus: The invited guests begin to make excuses about why they are unable to come to this dinner; a dinner they already said they would attend. One decides he must go immediately to see a piece of property. Another has to try out a new set of oxen. And another just got married. These are all odd excuses to make. What odd excuses do you make to avoid having to go somewhere you don’t want to go? Pray that you might say yes to this invitation and come to the party.
