Scripture – Philippians 2:3-4

3 Do nothing from selfish ambition or empty conceit, but in humility regard others as better than yourselves.

4 Let each of you look not to your own interests but to the interests of others.

Prayer Focus: Building on his request that the Philippians be “of the same mind, having the same love,” in the opening verses of the chapter, Paul deepens his description of what that looks like in a Christian community. The key words are “humility” and “others.” In humility regard others as better than yourselves. Look to the interests of others. Looking at the world in which we live, it appears that selfish ambition, empty conceit, and self-interests are running rampant. The result is division, confusion, and suffering. Pray that you might seek the welfare of others today over your own self-interests. Pray for the humility to recognize the particular ways God has called you to live and to love. And then live and love in that way.
