Scripture – Joel 2:27

27 You shall know that I am in the midst of Israel

    and that I, the Lord, am your God and there is no other.

And my people shall never again be put to shame.

Prayer Focus: The Lord reminds God’s people that their blessings and prosperity are not the result of their own hard work, efforts, or innate outstanding qualities. No, their blessings come because the Lord, their God, is in their midst. Generations later, the apostle Paul will write to the Philippians that they are to rejoice in the Lord always for “the Lord is near” (Phil 4:5b). Pray that you might see the Lord with you today. Pray that you might respond to God’s presence not with conceit or pride, but with humility, grace, and gratitude.
