Thursday, January 13: Scripture – John 2:6-7
6 Now standing there were six stone water jars for the Jewish rites of purification, each holding twenty or thirty gallons.
7 Jesus said to them, “Fill the jars with water.” And they filled them up to the brim.
Prayer Focus: The first thing that Jesus tells them to do is to fill the jars with water. Not necessarily an easy task because there was not a hose and spigot that the servants could just turn on and come back later. Filling the water jars, each holding twenty or thirty gallons of water, most likely meant trip after trip to the well. Really, this is what Jesus wanted them to do first? Pray that you might have the courage to do what Jesus tells you to do, even and especially when at first it doesn’t make sense and feels like a lot of busywork.
