8 Love never fails!

Prayer Focus: Love never fails? Can this be so? One child said, “That’s not true. Sometimes parents get divorced.” Ouch! Our children are watching, and they see our failures to love in a variety of ways each day. I know it is more complicated than this child’s concrete example. Sometimes the loving response may be to divorce. But I think this verse makes it even more clear that 1 Corinthians 13 is describing God’s love for us, not our love for others. Try as we may, we do not always act in loving ways. But God’s love for us never fails. Some other translations say, “Love never ends” or “Love never dies”. This is good news! We are all loved deeply and constantly by God. Because God loves us, we can strive each day to love others, no matter how complicated and challenging it sometimes is to do. Pray a prayer of thanksgiving for God’s never-ending love. Then, seek today to love others out of gratitude for God’s love for you.
