Scripture – Philippians 2:10-11

10 so that at the name given to Jesus
    every knee should bend,
    in heaven and on earth and under the earth,

11 and every tongue should confess
    that Jesus Christ is Lord,
    to the glory of God the Father.

Prayer Focus: “Come and worship, Come and worship, worship Christ the newborn king” is one of the favorite hymns that we sing at Christmas. As those who know the whole story from the incarnation to the crucifixion to the resurrection, we can sing and confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. This is the experience of the shepherds and the magi as they learn of Christ’s birth – they come and worship. This continues to be the experience of the church today. This is the promise in which we hope this Advent season: as love comes down, it lifts us up in worship and praise until that day when God sets all things right.
