Scripture – Hebrews 13:2

2 Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing that some have entertained angels without knowing it

Prayer Focus: The middle east and Mediterranean region had a strong culture of hospitality, particularly to strangers. Strangers were to be welcomed, fed, housed, and provided for without question or expectation. In the book of Genesis, three strangers come to Abraham and as he provides hospitality for them he discovers they are angels who bring news that he and Sarah will have a son. Today, we often view strangers not as someone to be welcomed, but as a potential danger or even threat. How might our church be a place of welcome and belonging for strangers. Is there really a place at the table for strangers?
