Sunday, August 7: Scripture – Genesis 15:4-6
4 But the word of the Lord came to him, “This man shall not be your heir; no one but your very own issue shall be your heir.”
5 He brought him outside and said, “Look toward heaven and count the stars, if you are able to count them.” Then he said to him, “So shall your descendants be.”
6 And he believed the Lord, and the Lord reckoned it to him as righteousness.
Prayer Focus: God is not angry with Abram’s honesty. Instead, God gives Abram a new sign that the promise is sure and trustworthy. God brings Abram outside and tells him to count the stars. So shall his descendants be. Think about the night sky, especially if you have gazed into the heavens without the light pollution of a town or city. It’s overwhelming. Tonight, I encourage you to go outside and count the stars. Believe the Lord. God has more in store for us than we could dream or imagine.
