Scripture –Acts 2:47b- And day by day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved.

Prayer Focus: It might be challenging to read this last verse this week and to not think about the “numbers.”  Here in Luke’s account of the early Christian movement, there is a jump from 120 believers in verse 1:15, to 3,000 in verse 2:41.  This illustrates a period of intense discipleship and spiritual development.  And the term “saved” here is not so much a reference to salvation, but it refers to people being folded into the faith community.  Pray today that we might continue to welcome people into this community of faith so that all of us might experience wholeness that can only come from God.
