8 If you really fulfill the royal law according to the scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you do well. 

Prayer Focus: Why is this law called the royal law?  Because it sums up the entire Hebraic law.  All law is to be read and understood through the lens of love.  This sounds simple, but it gets complicated easily when we live in a system and culture that is addicted to rank and status.  If we are trying to follow Christ, it is our job to resist the temptation to see our neighbors as the world sees them, in categories that cause oppression, and instead see them as God sees them, as beloved children.  Pray today that you might understand and act on the royal law of love.
