6 But you have dishonored the poor person. Is it not the rich who oppress you? Is it not they who drag you into the courts? 

7 Is it not they who blaspheme the excellent name that was invoked over you?

Prayer Focus: This week, as I write these devotions, there are people experiencing homelessness in our nation’s capital that are being criminalized and forced from the places where they sleep.  Their tents are being bulldozed, their possessions thrown away.  They are being rejected because they cannot afford housing.  They are being dishonored because of their economic status.  How do we respond faithfully to this situation?  Here in our county we work with mission partners like Family Promise and Pathways to try and make sure all people have a safe place to sleep, and their needs met.  Pray this week as we sit with this scripture passage that we might faithfully act to care for those who are most vulnerable.
