Scripture – John 14:15-16 

15 “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.
16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, to be with you forever.  

Prayer Focus: We continue this week with another text suggested by the lectionary as we move through the Easter Season toward Pentecost. Consistent throughout the Gospel according to John is the connection between loving Jesus and acting. In this case, if you love Jesus, you will keep his commandments (which he told the disciples in the last chapter is to “love one another.”) That is not always easy to do on our own, so Jesus promises the disciples “another” Advocate. Jesus himself has walked alongside the disciples to this point, but now another will come. Pray that you might be open to the advocates that the Father sends to you this week.
