22 The next day the crowd that had stayed on the other side of the sea saw that there had been only one boat there. They also saw that Jesus had not gotten into the boat with his disciples but that his disciples had gone away alone. 23 But some boats from Tiberias came near the place where they had eaten the bread after the Lord had given thanks. 24 So when the crowd saw that neither Jesus nor his disciples were there, they themselves got into the boats and went to Capernaum looking for Jesus.
Prayer Focus: Last week in our summer series “Tending the Soul,” we explored the spiritual practice of fasting or saying no. We hope that as we say “no,” we are creating space and time for us to say “yes” to what is life giving with God. So, this week we turn to the Gospel according to John just after Jesus has fed the 5000 from the five loaves and two fish of a boy’s lunch. After this miracle, realizing the people want to make him a king, Jesus and the disciples leave (Jesus by walking on the water of the sea). Recognizing that Jesus and the disciples are gone, the crowd went looking for Jesus. What are you looking for today? What are you seeking to feed your soul? Pray that you might look for Jesus.
