Scripture – Luke 14:15

15 One of the dinner guests, on hearing this, said to him, “Blessed is anyone who will eat bread in the kingdom of God!”

Prayer Focus: As we dive deeper into this year’s Annual Vision for Ministry: A Place at the Table, this week we turn first to Jesus’ parable in the Gospel of Luke about guests invited to a banquet. This summer we looked at a similar parable as recorded in the Gospel of Matthew, but here in Luke the parable is told as Jesus is the guest at a dinner party. He has already criticized the guests for how they chose seats at the table and encouraged his host to invite unexpected guests. One of the other guests responds with today’s verse: “Blessed is anyone who will eat bread in the kingdom of heaven!” There is a place at the table for you. You are welcome here.
