16 We know love by this, that he laid down his life for us—and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers and sisters.

Prayer Focus: In our second week introducing our “We Love” Annual Vision of Ministry, we’ll begin thinking and praying about what it looks like to respond to God’s love with love of our own. We begin with a few verses from the 3rd chapter of 1 John. How do you know someone loves you? How do we know that God loves us? We know love by this, that Christ laid down his life for us. For the author of this letter, responding to God’s love is pretty straightforward – instead of hating our brothers and sisters, let us lay down our lives for one another. Because God first loved us, we lay down our lives for each other. Pray that this may be so for you today.
