19 When it was evening on that day, the first day of the week, and the doors were locked where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.” 20 After he said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord.
Prayer Focus: The third week of this Stewardship Season, as part of the Easter Season, we return to the Gospel of John. In this Gospel’s account, on the evening of resurrection day, we do not find the disciples jumping for joy and celebrating in the streets that Jesus has been raised from the dead. No, we find them together in a locked room full of fear. They have not believed the word Mary shared with them, but still Jesus comes. He does not wait until we understand or have everything figured out. He does not come just in the moments of celebration. No, Jesus comes and offers us peace. Pray that you might know that peace of the Lord today, even in your moments of fear.
