9 Who knows? God may relent and change his mind; he may turn from his fierce anger, so that we do not perish.”
Prayer Focus: The king makes his proclamation for public and communal repentance without assurance that it will make a difference. Who knows? Maybe God will relent and change his mind? We have a different hope. In Jesus Christ’s life, death, and resurrection we can be assured of pardon as we confess our sins. We confess not in the hope that God may relent, but with a sure and certain faith that God is for us. Confess your sins today, not out of fear, but with hope and assurance that love and forgiveness await.
