Scripture – Matthew 4:19-22

19 And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of people.”

20 Immediately they left their nets and followed him.

21 As he went from there, he saw two other brothers, James, son of Zebedee and his brother John, in the boat with their father Zebedee, mending their nets, and he called them.

22 Immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.

Prayer Focus: Jesus issues a simple invitation, “Follow me.” And “immediately” they left their nets and followed him. The same happens with James and John – “immediately” they left the boat and their father and followed him. I find it hard to believe that anything like this happens “immediately,” but I suspect that reflects my own cautious nature that likes to know the plan well ahead of time. Could you go “immediately” if Jesus called you? Pray about what your response might be, for you never know how you might encounter Jesus today.
