1 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
Prayer Focus: As we continue to prayerfully reflect on faith this week, we turn to the Letter to the Hebrews’ classic definition of “faith.” Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. Faith is not just wishful thinking. It is not a dream of a glorious future. Faith is a heart-felt trust and knowledge (as John Calvin would say) of what is hoped for and not yet a reality. We can begin to live differently now because of what we know by faith will someday be true. Pray for a faith that captures both your mind and your heart today.
