Friday, August 5: Scripture – Genesis 15:1
1 After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision, “Do not be afraid, Abram, I am your shield; your reward shall be very great.”
Prayer Focus: A lot has happened in Abram’s life since he answered God’s call back in Genesis 12. Now God appears to Abram again in a vision with the opening words, “Do not be afraid.” The reason not to fear has nothing to do with Abram’s own gifts and talents. It has everything to do with the Lord’s promise to be Abram’s shield. Then God repeats the promise that Abram’s reward will be very great. From time to time we need to be reminded that God is with us and that God will keep God’s promise. Pray for a reminder today. Ask God to draw close and to speak to you again.
