Scripture – Isaiah 1:16-17

16 Wash yourselves; make yourselves clean;
    remove your evil deeds
    from before my eyes;
cease to do evil;

17     learn to do good;
seek justice;
    rescue the oppressed;
defend the orphan;
    plead for the widow.

Prayer Focus: These verses make even more explicit the charge that Isaiah brings against God’s people. Instead of festivals and offerings, Isaiah speaks a word from the Lord for the people to wash themselves, cease to do evil, learn to do good, seek justice, rescue the oppressed, defend the orphan, and plead for the widow. Are those kinds of things on your daily “to do list?” I often believe that that kind of work is the responsibility of someone else. Pray that you might embrace this call from God to you and to our church today.
