Scripture – Matthew 20:8-9

8 When evening came, the owner of the vineyard said to his manager, ‘Call the laborers and give them their pay, beginning with the last and then going to the first.’ 9 When those hired about five o’clock came, each of them received a denarius.

Prayer Focus: At the end of the day the landowner has his manager call all the laborers so they might be paid. And yet, in an unusual twist, those who started last will be paid first. And they are given the full day’s wage – a denarius. Apparently all the other laborers see the immensely generous gift that has been given to the laborers who worked a short amount of time. Pray that you might rejoice in a generous gift given to those who really need it today. Do not worry if the gift has been earned or deserved. Give thanks for a gift given to someone who really needs it.
