Scripture – Matthew 18:32-33

32 “Then his lord summoned him and said to him, ‘You wicked slave! I forgave you all that debt because you pleaded with me. 33 Should you not have had mercy on your fellow slave, as I had mercy on you?’”

Prayer Focus: Kathryn Blanchard says, “God’s “default” stance toward the penitent is one of mercy must lead to the conviction that God’s people are those who likewise practice mercy—willingly, concretely, and as a communal way of life.” As we examine this story this week, may we also examine our own lives. Pray that each of us might recognize the mercy we have been given, and willingly then give mercy.
