Scripture- Acts 1:12-13

12 Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath day’s journey away. 13 When they had entered the city, they went to the room upstairs where they were staying: Peter, and John, and James, and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James son of Alphaeus, and Simon the Zealot, and Judas son of James.

Prayer Focus: Finally accepting the reality of Jesus’ departure from earth, it’s time for the disciples to head down the mountain and back to Jerusalem. It’s time to begin the work Jesus has called them to. I can’t help but wonder how they felt as they ventured down the mountain together and back to the room where they had been staying. Do you imagine there was much conversation during that day-long journey? Or trepid silence as they contemplated the task before them? The one detail Luke gives us is that they made the journey together. They didn’t split up and go their separate ways. They knew they would need each other to do the work they had been called to. Today, I pray that we all may give thanks for the community God has given us. May we find the strength to lean on one another and journey together, even when we are uncertain of what lies ahead.
