Prayer Focus: Many scholars believe that Paul begins to quote an early Christian hymn when he reaches verse six. Even most bibles will set this verse and the ones that follow as poetry instead of as a paragraph. Think about how you might sing these verses and how they might relate to the hymns we love to sing at Christmas. It begins in the heavens with a celebration of Christ’s divinity and equality with the Father. But this was not something to be grasped or held tight. Being of the same mind as Christ means opening our hands and letting go of the ways we think we can secure ourselves and our future. Pray that you might open your hands, loosen your grasp, and let go today.
