Scripture – Philippians 2:7-8
7 but emptied himself,
taking the form of a slave,
assuming human likeness.
And being found in appearance as a human,
8 he humbled himself
and became obedient to the point of death—
even death on a cross.
Prayer Focus: As we continue to sing with Paul, we find that instead of grasping equality with God, Christ “emptied himself.” The Greek word, kenosis, means to empty or to pour out. Love came down, love poured itself out, to be filled with something else. While remaining fully God, Christ also became fully human. Taking the form of a slave, assuming human likeness, being found as a human being, God humbled himself for you and for me. Love takes on human flesh for you and for me, even to the point of death on a cross. Pray that you might rejoice in this good news today. Love comes down into our lives today so set us free.
