31 The days are surely coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah. 32 It will not be like the covenant that I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt—a covenant that they broke, though I was their husband, says the Lord.

Prayer Focus: In these new days that Lord will make a new covenant. The Old Testament has multiple covenants that God makes with God’s people, and, in this case, Jeremiah seems to be talking about the covenants that carry mutual obligations. God and the people both make promises – i.e., if you are faithful then I will provide protection and care. God’s people continually break the covenant with their unfaithfulness, but God has not abandoned them. A new day is coming with a new covenant. Pray for a second chance today. Pray that you might grant someone a second chance. Pray for a new beginning of faithfulness.
