Scripture – 1 Timothy 6:17

17 As for those who in the present age are rich, command them not to be haughty or to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches but rather on God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.  

Prayer Focus: While scripture contains plenty of places where the rich are viewed with suspicion or even excluded from the kingdom of God (ie, a rich man entering the kingdom is like a camel going through the eye of a needle); in these final verses Paul provides instruction for how those who are rich in this age might remain faithful. Do not be haughty or set their hopes on their riches; rather set their hopes on God. I suspect that almost all who read these words today, in the eyes of the population statistics for the entire world, would be classified as “rich.” So, pray that you might heed Paul’s instructions today.
