1 After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision, “Do not be afraid, Abram, I am your shield; your reward shall be very great.”  

Prayer Focus: Last week’s devotions on Hosea 11 were about discovering God’s heart as one of faithfulness and love. How might we respond to God’s amazing love for us? Faith is one of the first and primary ways we are called to respond. Abraham (still called Abram here) is often lifted up as a model of faith, so we begin this week with a conversation between Abram and God in Genesis 15. Abram has been following God’s call for a number of years after God promised land, descendants, and blessing. In this verse God comes to Abram in a vision with another promise: your reward shall be very great. Pray today about the promises that you’ve received from God. Pray today about the promises you are still waiting on. Pray that you might trust in the Lord.
