Welcome to Liz Corsig – Director of Youth Ministry

Welcome to Liz Corsig – Director of Youth Ministry

We are excited to announce that Liz Corsig has been called by God and the Session to serve as Unity’s Director of Youth Ministry.  While she completes a full-time hospital chaplaincy program (Clinical Pastoral Education), Liz will be with us several Sundays this summer to meet youth and families and begin planning for the fall. Liz begins serving as a full-time member of Unity’s ministry team on August 18th.

Liz is currently the High School Ministry Coordinator at Myers Park Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, where she has served since June 2020. Liz is also a student at Union Presbyterian Seminary (Charlotte campus), enrolled in the dual degree Master of Divinity and Master of Arts in Christian Education program, as she pursues ordination as a Pastor in the Presbyterian Church (USA). This summer’s hospital chaplaincy program is a requirement for her preparation for ordination.

The search committee immediately connected with Liz’s deep faith, great energy, and personal engagement with youth and families. She loves Jesus, loves youth, and loves the church. Her experience in youth ministry at Myers Park, leading Presbytery retreats, and coordinating mission and study trips around the world will be a great gift to the youth and families of Unity. Liz talks about her call to youth ministry in this way:

“My call has been fueled by my desire to walk alongside young people with the same intentionality and consistency that I experienced from Christian educators throughout my life. Over the past three years I have learned the value of being flexible, innovative, and willing to meet youth where they are. For me this has looked like attending countless of their sports games and performances, meeting them for ice cream on their days off from school, and inviting them into leadership spaces where they feel seen and heard. Young people face a unique set of challenges in our world, but they are compassionate, curious, and engaged. They see God in places I would never think to look, and they are constantly expanding my understanding of what the Kingdom of God looks like. They push me to grow theologically, spiritually, and professionally, and I am grateful to learn from them each day.”

We know you will look forward to meeting Liz on June 9, her first Sunday with us. Youth and families, watch for more information about “quest for the best” and other summer gatherings with Liz.
